Non-Residing landowners

Almost all the farm owners in Rishon Le-Zion settled on their lands, planted vineyards and orange groves, fulfilling the Zionist vision and commandment of settling the Land of Israel. Some of the farm owners invested their money in purchasing the land in the village yet continued to live in the Diaspora. Nevertheless, being land owners, they had rights to vote and be voted for the Village Committee and participate in decision-making. This was done by means of representatives chosen by them. These representatives were the ones who worked the land in their place. The names of the non-resident land owners appear in the land owners' registers, in the lists of the Second "Aliya" settlers and in additional documents found in the museum archive.
